All masks are done in paper mache
with glossy paint. Paper mache consists of either
cloth or newspaper dipped into a concoction made of
flour, water, a bit of salt to keep it from going
bad, and a pinch of cinnamon to keep it from
stinking. Basically, it's a cinnamon apple fruit bar
in liquid form. The paper is applied to a cheap
plastic mask found in any craft store, sometimes
with cardboard attached for additional features.
I was inspired to make masks
after a trip to Venice, so the early ones are more
classic Venetian while the newer ones are more
inspired by Dave McKean's work on MirrorMask.
